What is your minimum delivery?
We will deliver oil for 50 gallons or higher. But our discount prices are based on 150 gallons. For orders less than 150 gallons the price per gallon is adjusted to cover the delivery.
What is the current price of home heating oil?
We operate on a day-to-day basis with our pricing, as markets are continually fluctuating. Our current oil price is located on our home page of our web site and on our Facebook page. Like our Facebook page to see our specials and the price posted Monday through Friday.
Is there anything I need to do to ensure that my Automatic Delivery remains on schedule?
All you need to do is ensure that we have access to your delivery area. During the winter months, we ask that you clear your delivery area (fill pipe) of any snow so that we can maintain your delivery schedule without interruption.
Does running out of home heating oil damage my furnace/boiler?
It is better for your heating system NOT to let it run out, but it seldom causes damage. We recommend that you refill your tank at or around ¼ of a tank.
How often should I have my unit serviced and cleaned?
We recommend annual preventative maintenance tune-up for your heating system. It is usually best to have these tune-ups scheduled before periods of heavy use. (eg: May – September) This way you can be assured that your systems will be at peak performance and efficiency when you need them the most. Keeping your system properly maintained will lower energy and repair cost, prevent breakdowns and prolong the life of your equipment.
At what temperature should I set my thermostat?
Normal heating settings are 68- 72 degrees. On average, every 1 degree of temperature change is equal to about 10% energy savings. We recommend that you install a programmable thermostat to save you money.
Isn’t propane cheaper than oil per gallon?
Yes, you are correct but it isn’t as easy as a per gallon price when comparing two different types of fuel. When you compare heating oil vs. propane on a BTU-per-BTU basis, fuel oil generates more heat. Oil is 140k BTU per gallon and propane is 92k per gallon. Most oil boilers average about 85% efficiency, while propane boilers average an efficiency of 95%. Taking these percentages then oil will produce about 119k BTU per gallon and propane will produce about 87.4k BTU per gallon. This break downs shows that you get more heat out of a gallon of heating oil than a gallon of propane. With all of this, propane will have to be about 37% cheaper than oil for propane to be overall cheaper. Given today’s prices (2014), oil is by far the cheaper option for you and your family to heat your home.
Are homes heated with home heating oil really more comfortable when compared to homes heated via natural gas?
Oil heat burns 400 degrees hotter than natural gas, resulting in a comfortable home that heats up faster. Because oil heat has a higher burn temperature, it provides a more even temperature in all rooms throughout your home. Oil heat is the warmest heat coming out of a heat vent. It warms our home quickly, safely and cost effectively. It is not surprise that most people who convert to natural gas or electricity regret their decision.
Is heating oil more expensive than natural gas?
First, it is important to know that prices for all home heating options are going up. But unlike home heating oil, natural gas just doesn’t seem to adhere to the old adage of what goes up must come down. Once the big utilities raise prices for natural gas, they almost never go back down again. Your local heating dealers keep heating oil prices as low as possible through competition and a variety of service options. Secondly, you have control of your consumption.
Should I listen to the sales people who try and get me to convert my home to propane or natural gas?
No, it is not. Conversion is extremely expensive process. In most cases, the thousands of dollars you spend to convert to natural gas or propane are never recovered. It is almost always more cost effective to upgrade your existing system. New oil heat furnaces are state-of-the-art and will heat a home with efficiency approaching 90% and more. A fact that prospective buyers will appreciate.
How often should I change my air filter?
It is recommended to replace the air filter in your furnace on a regular basis. Dirty air filters reduce the amount of air flowing through a system and make the furnace work harder to maintain the temperature. We estimate every 6 months. At that time, we also recommend that you change the batteries in your smoke detectors
Is home heating oil safe?
Yes, oil is very safe. Many experts say it may be considered the safest type of heat because it will not explode and the inhalation of fumes is not fatal.
